I attended my monthly professional design group meeting this week. We had a discussion of what we see as to where the new trends in design are headed. Many felt that the day of everything gray was starting to pass and more color is headed into the spotlight. Natural woods are also making a come back as are wallpapers and patterns. Staighter lines and simplicity of style is still very much here to stay but often highlighted with and unexpected traditional piece. So I think what you can take from this is think oustside the box. If you love the clean angular lines of midcentury modern highlight it with a couple of bright patterned Bohemian pillows, or sassy bold wallpaper. Always remember that contrast shows things off and keeps your design from being boring. This is how you develop your own style.
